• digi_keyboard_mac_thumbWHAM!  Today I updated Pro Tools 8 on my office Mac desktop and that went swimmingly.  Then, I started up  the fresh new version and it crashed while loading the plugins…hmmm.  I checked disk permissions and repaired them.

I restarted PT8 and it crashed again in the same place.  So, I decided to remove the plug-in at the point where it was crashing.  I went to the location of my PT plug-ins (LocalDrive>Library>ApplicationSupport>Digidesign>Plug-Ins)I removed the plugin “stereo mixer.dpm” and placed it in the unused plugins folder.  Then, restarted PT8 and it crashed at the next plug-in “structure.dpm”.

Again, I restarted PT8 and it crashed at the next plug-in “surround mixer.dpm”.  Finally, I restarted PT8 and everything loaded fine.  Working on a session as I’ve paused to type.  So, this fix worked for me.  Searching for more info about this… was it a bug in the update??? is there something I missed???
